MORAY BUSINESS WOMEN

Susan Longmuir, Chartered Architect and Head of Building Department, is the current Vice President of Moray Business Women (MBW), a club for business and professional women in and around Moray. MBW’s aim is to provide a network where women can come together in both a professional and social capacity.

Meetings are held on the first Thursday of every month, members and guests come together and network over dinner. Each meeting is different, with either a focus on networking and getting to know your fellow members a bit better or with a guest speaker. Guest speakers will range from inspirational business women and men, to politicians and entrepreneurs.

September’s evening event will be Networking, Dinner & Talk from Josh Littlejohn of Social-Bite and Scottish Business Awards. Social-Bite: a social business, meaning that no matter how big it grows, no individual will ever get rich from the business as 100% profits go to charity and 25% workforce is made up of people with backgrounds of homelessness.Josh also founded the Scottish Business Awards, which have become the largest and most prestigious event in the UK, with 1700 business leaders attending representing over £100B turnover attending. Past speakers have included Sir Richard Branson, President Bill Clinton, Sir Bob Geldof and Nobel Laureate Prof Muhammed Yunus.

If you wish to come along to find out what Moray Business Women is all about, please do come and meet us. You will be made very welcome. You may be self employed, an employee or even both! If you are new to the club and a bit nervous about coming along to your first meeting or introducing yourself to our members, then don't worry, MBW will have committee members on hand to help. They will be there to help answer any questions you might have and will help introduce you to other members of the club. The event is being held at Mansefield Hotel, Elgin on Thursday 4th September 2014 from 7pm.

Please email Susan at susan@bowlts.com for more details.

As well as monthly meetings, the club actively works with chosen charities each year to raise money for worthwhile causes. For 2014 the chosen charity is MACS Moray Area Cancer Support. Charity events in the past have included a charity race night, golf days. Last year was rounded off with our Charity Awards Ball, where the past year was celebrated and awards given for those women who excelled in their business and professional life.
