ARCHITECTURAL TECHNICIAN/TECHNOLOGIST


We are seeking an architectural technician/technologist to join our team and work with our existing architect, who is head of the Building Department.  The work would mainly be in the rural sector, including high-end residential work, work to historic vernacular properties and small development sites.

Responsibilities would include:-

  • preparation of design, technical (building warrant) and contract documentation including drawings and specification writing;
  • detailing technical solutions, materials and building techniques – suited to residential and historic property (and with thought to sustainability);
  • preparation of location and site plans suitable for planning purposes;
  • general assistance and support to architect as required including printing, photocopying, liaising with building product suppliers, etc;
  • carrying out and drafting measured building surveys;

The successful candidate will be:-

  • a graduate or CIAT qualified or other equivalent professional;
  • experienced in AutoCAD, Vectorworks and Microsoft Office;
  • experienced in design, building and construction (having been involved in projects from inception to completion);
  • genuinely interest in quality design and construction;
  • self-motivated and pro-active.

Our rural office locations and the need for occasional site visits mean that a Driving Licence and access to a car are essential.

 

POST PART II ARCHITECTURAL ASSISTANT


We are seeking a post Part II architectural assistant to join our team and work with our existing architect, who is head of the Building Department.  The work would mainly be in the rural sector, including high-end residential work, work to historic vernacular properties and small development sites. 

Responsibilities would include:-

  • assisting our architect in all areas of our professional work;
  • carrying out and drawing up measured building surveys;
  • preparation of design stage and planning drawings;
  • preparation of location and site plans;
  • preparation of 3D models/drawings for presentation purposes;
  • assisting with preparation of building warrant drawings;
  • assisting with schedule and specification writing;
  • general assistance and support to architect as required including printing, photocopying, liaising with building product suppliers, etc.

The successful candidate will be:-

  • experienced in AutoCAD, Vectorworks and Microsoft Office;
  • genuinely interest in quality design and construction;
  • a hard worker and quick learner;
  • self-motivated and pro-active.

Our rural office locations and the need for occasional site visits mean that a Driving Licence and access to a car are essential.

 

GIS Technician


Inverness or Pluscarden, near Elgin

An opportunity has arisen to join the mapping team with Bowlts Chartered Surveyors in the North of Scotland, whose core activity is rural estate management and consultancy. The company advise clients on a wide range of rural matters throughout the Highlands, Grampians and further south.

The mapping team undertake a wide variety of work and responsibilities will include producing title plans, estate and forestry mapping, as well as assisting with the development of the firm’s use of GIS and mapping software.

The successful candidate will ideally have:

  • A GIS qualification or experience in the use of GIS and ArcGIS Desktop 10.x
  • Experience in dealing with title deeds
  • Knowledge of Scotland’s Land Registration system
  • Experience of preparing plans to Registers of Scotland requirements

This position will suit someone resourceful and organised with good attention to detail. You will be confident working on your own initiative as well as being able to work well within a small team.  A competitive salary package is on offer commensurate with experience.
