Scottish Government has stopped short of introducing full planning for hill tracks, opting for a prior notification approach. The Scottish Government’s press release can be found here: http://scottishgovernment.presscentre.com/News/Protecting-scenic-Scotland-1018.aspx.
Landowners and farmers will welcome the decision by the Minister to adopt a Prior Notification process for hill tracks, as opposed to seeking full planning permission. Prior Notification already applies to agricultural buildings, and appears to function well and there has always been strong opposition to the application of planning constraints for hill tracks. Prior Notification is a much more sensible and proportionate approach.

Due to an increasing workload, we are looking to expand our rural practice department. Our office is based at Pluscarden, near Elgin, Moray. We currently have a staff of 15 and our core activity is property consultancy and rural estate management.
We are currently accepting applications for both a Rural Practice Chartered Surveyor as well as a Trainee Chartered Surveyor.
The successful applicants will join our rural practice team, which consists of four fully qualified land agents. Both positions are full-time, working Monday to Friday, and salary will be negotiable depending on experience.
