CAITHNESS AND SUTHERLAND LOCAL DEVELOPMENT PLAN

Posted on

The Caithness and Sutherland Local Development Plan (CaSPlan) is the latest new area local development plans to be prepared by The Highland Council.

The plan will cover the area of Highland stretching roughly from Dornoch to Durness and Wick to Lochinver and once formally adopted, it will replace the existing Caithness Local Plan and Sutherland Local Plan.

The Council have now launched the “Call for Sites and Ideas”, the first stage in the production of the new CaSPlan. This means that they are now inviting landowners and members of communities to let them know what land in the Caithness and Sutherland area they wish to see developed and/or protected. They are also inviting people to identify issues for planning in the Caithness and Sutherland area and to suggest ideas for how to address them.

More information is available from the Highland Council website. The deadline for submitting any suggestions is 5pm on the 17th October 2013.

Following the completion of the call for sites and ideas exercise, all suggestions will be reviewed by the Council and it is anticipated that a Main Issues Report will be issued in 2014. This will set out what their ideas on the best options for development and give reasonable alternatives.

If you would like to make a bid for a site to be included in the plan, Bowlts Chartered Surveyors would be happy to offer advice and assistance. Please contact us on 01343 890400 or email enquiries@bowlts.com for more details of how we could help you to make a representation.
