MAPPING SCOTLAND'S WILDNESS AND WILD LAND

SNH have been carrying out a study over the last few years to identify wildness and wild land across Scotland.
The concept of wildness is very difficult to measure. People respond differently to what is wild according to their personal experience and expectations of a place. SNH have considered 4 separate wildness factors - perceived naturalness, rugged or challenging terrain, remoteness from public roads and lack of built modern artefacts - and combined these to produce a single map of relative wildness.
The consultation period for this map closed on 20th December 2013 and they have now published their analysis of responses.

Due to an increasing workload, we are looking to expand our rural practice department. Our office is based at Pluscarden, near Elgin, Moray. We currently have a staff of 15 and our core activity is property consultancy and rural estate management.
We are currently accepting applications for both a Rural Practice Chartered Surveyor as well as a Trainee Chartered Surveyor.
The successful applicants will join our rural practice team, which consists of four fully qualified land agents. Both positions are full-time, working Monday to Friday, and salary will be negotiable depending on experience.
