The Scottish Government’s £6 million scheme offering financial help to farmers hit by the extreme winter weather closes to applications on Friday 5th July 2013.
Applications will be accepted from producers who…
- Have lost 10% or more of breeding ewes/lambs put to the ram
- Have lost 5% or more of other breeding livestock
- Will have over 20% fewer lambs reared this year from equivalent breeding stock numbers
- Will have more than 10% fewer calves or other livestock reared this year from equivalent breeding stock numbers
- Have re-sown 20% or more of an arable crop
It should be noted that these figures are a guide and applications for lower or other types of losses may be accepted. It is anticipated that payments will commence in August 2013.

Due to an increasing workload, we are looking to expand our rural practice department. Our office is based at Pluscarden, near Elgin, Moray. We currently have a staff of 15 and our core activity is property consultancy and rural estate management.
We are currently accepting applications for both a Rural Practice Chartered Surveyor as well as a Trainee Chartered Surveyor.
The successful applicants will join our rural practice team, which consists of four fully qualified land agents. Both positions are full-time, working Monday to Friday, and salary will be negotiable depending on experience.
